Botanizing at Occoneechee Mountain

Oaks
Saturday, November 05, 2022
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Paul Manos and Alex Motten

This North Carolina State Natural Area is a gem, with a diversity of natural plant and animal communities not found anywhere else in the Triangle region. Join Paul Manos, Duke University professor of biology and Duke Herbarium curator, and Alec Motten, assistant professor emeritus, Duke University Department of Biology on a 2- to 3-mile mountain hike of moderate difficulty. Both Alec and Paul bring a deep expertise in plants and ecology; they will "read" the landscape and give you a unique view of Occoneechee Mountain.
Driving directions will be sent for participants to meet at the site. Please wear comfortable clothes and good walking shoes. Bring a lunch and beverage to enjoy and continue the conversation after the hike.

Co-sponsored by the Duke Herbarium, Triangle Land Conservancy, Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association and Duke Gardens. Please register through the Gardens' website.

Saturday, November 5, 10 a.m.-noon. $34; Gardens members receive a 20% discount at registration with your members' discount code. Registration is at https://duke.is/gmnav.
