DBI Grad Talk: O Haiti é aqui? The Haitian Revolution and the origins of Brazilian constitutionalism

Marcos Queiroz is a Ph.D. student at Law School of the University of Brasília, with an academic exchange at the National University of Colombia (Abdias Nascimento Grant). Currently, he is a Fulbright scholar at Duke University. He is a professor at the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development, and Research (IDP), where he is the coordinator of Peabiru - Research Group on Latin American History and Constitutionalism. His first book "Constitucionalismo Brasileiro e o Atlântico Negro: a experiência constituinte de 1823 diante da Revolução Haitiana" received an honorable mention in the Thomas Skidmore Award (National Archives of Brazil and Brazilian Studies Association). He has several academic publications on the relationship between law, history, and race relations. He is completing an investigation about the impact of the Haitian Revolution in Brazil and Colombia.
