Energy in Emerging Markets Case Competition
This Fall, the ninth Energy in Emerging Markets Case Competition (EEMCC) has engaged 108 teams of graduate students from several countries across the globe in generating solutions for real-world challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa.
On November 9, EEMCC participants and current Duke University students, faculty, and staff are invited to join a culminating event that showcases finalist teams' solutions and offers opportunities to learn more about energy access, emerging markets, and carbon finance. Virtual and in-person "lunch and learn" opportunities will offer attendees opportunities to network with experts serving as EEMCC judges.
The event will feature a documentary viewing and fireside chat with Matt Siller, Head of Business Development at C-Quest Capital. C-Quest Capital, this year's EEMCC partner, is a leading social impact investor and project developer that aims to provide sustainable energy solutions for communities with unreliable energy access.
The event will also showcase the top five finalist teams' work to develop business models for one of C-Quest Capital's high-impact carbon finance projects: promoting the distribution of sustainable biomass cooking fuels and related clean cooking technologies in Sub-Saharan Africa.
At the event's close, judges will award a total of $15,000 in prizes to the top three teams. Organized as part of Energy Week at Duke by the MBA Energy Club and sponsored by the James E. Rogers Energy Access Project at Duke.
ABOUT ENERGY WEEK: Energy Week is coordinated by dozens of Duke University students from diverse degree programs, with support from the Duke University Energy Initiative (which is merging with the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions) and the Center for Energy, Development and the Global Environment (EDGE) at the Fuqua School of Business. Corporate and organizational sponsors also help make the week possible.
