Cine-East: Transnational North Korea

Film Screening: "Goodbye, Pyongyang" (Yang Yong-hi, 2009, 81 min, South Korea/Japan, in Korean with English subtitles, color, DVD) -- This documentary portrays the growth of a girl who was born and living in Pyongyang, North Korea. Director YANG tells the stories of her niece Sona whose father (YANG's brother) immigrated to North Korea from Japan in the early 70s. YANG gazes at Sona who was educated in a North Korean school in Japan.
