"Protest, Justice and Journalism: Lessons and Questions since Ferguson" will engage the audience in a wide-ranging conversation about the public response to police killings of black men, and about how this response has been described, understood (or misunderstood), and influenced by news media. What are the most important lessons and questions about the criminal justice system? About the nature and impact of popular protest? About the role of the professional news media in a story in which social media is such a prominent and pervasive shaper of perception? Looking ahead, what have these events been about and where does the story go from here?
