Moria Smoski, PhD

Dr. Smoski received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Yale University and her PhD in clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University. She completed her clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University Medical Center and was a Scholar with the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRCWH) K12 Institutional Career Development Program. She is joint appointed at Duke in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and of Psychology and Neuroscience, serving as faculty within the Medical Psychology Internship as well as the Cognitive Behavioral Research and Treatment Program, and she is an affiliate of the Duke Brain Imaging and Analysis Center. Her work has been funded by NIMH, NIDA, NICHD, and the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (NARSAD). Dr. Smoski's program of research focuses on developing an understanding of disruptions of core emotional processes, including reward and the regulation of affect, that contribute to psychopathology and that may be remediated through psychosocial and behavioral interventions.
