The talk will describe the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in India. Comparisons with other regions of the world will be highlighted. Specific attributes of CVD in India will be described in detail. The progression of the epidemic and the social gradient in risk factors and disease conditions will be described. A few examples of innovative methods to address the rising burden of CVD in resource poor settings will be described in detail.
