Derek Pardue

Derek Pardue is Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Brazilian Studies Program inside the Global Studies Department at Aarhus University in Denmark. His research has focused on issues of urbanism, migration and expressive culture throughout the Black Atlantic, specifically the Luso-African world of Brazil, Portugal and Cape Verde. His most recent book, Sobrevivendo no Inferno (Bloomsbury 2021) is a collection of short stories inspired by the eponymous album recorded by the legendary Brazilian rap group Racionais MCs. Dr. Pardue is currently an affiliate of the DBI.
