DESCRIPTION:Around 2 billion people worldwide live in areas affected by ar
 med conflict\, including dozens of ongoing wars\, sectarian violence and 
 political instability that forces the displacement of millions of people.
  Beyond the direct impacts of these conflicts on human health\, including
  the many people who are killed or injured as a result of armed combat\, 
 prolonged periods of conflict can have much wider health impacts\, such a
 s by worsening environmental conditions that drive disease and disrupting
  access to medical services and care.\n\nThis Think Global panel will exp
 lore these wider impacts of armed conflict on health\, including how disr
 uptions to health systems pose challenges for treatment of chronic diseas
 es and other health conditions. Panelists will offer firsthand perspectiv
 es of the obstacles they have faced in delivering healthcare in areas aff
 ected by conflict and explore the impact these challenges have on both pa
 tients and providers. The discussion will seek to define how global healt
 h research can measure and articulate the impacts of conflict on human he
 alth\, as well as ways that those impacts may be avoided.

  United States used racial covenants to codify neighborhood segregation\,
  a structural legacy that continues to drive inequities in health and eco
 nomic success today. In this Think Global panel\, experts with background
 s in history\, education and social justice will explore how communities 
 are confronting the ongoing impacts of this often-hidden history\, a proc
 ess that can be a powerful tool in building stronger communities that are
  better able to flourish and respond to adversity.\n \nPanelists will des
 cribe the community engagement process of Mapping Prejudice\, an internat
 ionally recognized research project that works with communities across th
 e United States to mobilize volunteers to identify and map racial covenan
 ts. The discussion will explore how this process has created collective u
 nderstanding and led to policy change in places such as Minneapolis\, and
  how a trauma-informed approach is essential to empowering communities. T
 hrough exploration of this model\, the discussion will offer insights on 
 how to effectively engage students and communities in productive discussi

  Development Goals (SDGs)\, a Blueprint for achieving a set of interconne
 cted targets to advance global health\, equity and development. With just

 Gs\, and what should come next?\n\nWith lessons from the SDGs as a guide\
