DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Emerging Pedagogies Summit: AI and Teaching Futures i
 s a pedagogy-focused opportunity for Duke faculty and instructors to expl
 ore the future of teaching and learning.\n\nThe Summit will create space 
 for curiosity\, honest dialogue\, and practical exploration of AI in teac
 hing and learning. Whether participants are enthusiastic adopters\, thoug
 htful skeptics\, or hold divergent opinions of AI\, the Summit invites fa
 culty and instructors to engage with new ideas\, challenge assumptions\, 
 and learn alongside colleagues.\n\nRather than prescribing or accepting a
  single vision for the future of education\, the Emerging Pedagogies Summ
 it aims to spark conversations that will continue long after the event co
 ncludes. Our goal is for every participant to leave inspired and motivate
 d to shape the future of teaching and learning\, particularly as that fut
 ure pertains to AI and pedagogy.\n\nEvent Format\n\nThe Summit is intenti
 onally designed as a two-part experience. The morning begins with three h
 ands-on workshops\, with participants joining a concurrent workshop facil
 itated by nationally-recognized educators and pedagogy thought leaders. T
 hese two-hour workshops give instructors the time and space to dig deeply
  into ideas\, develop new capacities\, and engage in meaningful dialogue 
 with colleagues in a smaller setting.\n\nThe afternoon brings everyone to
 gether for a shared experience that builds on ideas and practices surface
 d during the morning sessions. Following lunch and opening remarks\, our 
 Community Conversation session will feature Duke students and instructors
  sharing short presentations and engaging in structured dialogue about AI
  and education. The Summit's final session will feature moderated reflect
 ions about the ideas that surfaced throughout the day and speculations ab
 out the futures for teaching and learning we are willing to build.\n\nFol
 lowing closing remarks\, we will end the day together with a happy hour i
 nfused with poetry and play. After exploring difficult questions\, experi
 menting with new approaches\, and developing new capacities\, we'll make 
 space for connection\, creativity\, and hope as we imagine new possibilit
 ies for teaching and learning.
