NOTE: Please register ahead of the event! There are 25 seats available. <

aculty and Staff. \nThis event is intended for FACULTY ONLY and does n
ot fulfill any GS requirements\n\nCitations are the currency of tenur
e in most academic disciplines\, but there are demonstrated inequities an
d biases within the practices and rates of citation. Women and people of
color are historically underrepresented in academia\, and their published
work is cited at lower rates than white men. Publications from the globa
l south are generally cited less than those from western nations. In this
session\, we'll discuss the common biases reflected in citation practice
s\, what efforts are being made to address them\, and how faculty can str
ive to be more equitable and inclusive in their citational practice.\n\nW
e invite faculty and research staff to join Duke librarians for an
interactive introduction to citational justice and discussion of concept
s and practice for Responsible Conduct of Research credit. Breakout room
discussions of a citation diversity statement will be facilitated by a li
brarian.\n\n___\nAre you a graduate student interested in learning

their research. These may include scans of archival documents such as ma

de varying-quality scans of secondary sources on loan from their own or o

computation: by using computational tools to transcribe handwritten and p
