DESCRIPTION:At a time of rising antisemitism and deep cultural division\,
Tony Award-winning actor and activist Ari'el Stachel invites audiences in
to an exclusive intimate evening of performance\, storytelling\, and conv
ersation.\n\nThis newly created work draws from Ari'el's own life and exp
eriences\, exploring themes that have long informed his work as an artist
  and advocate.\n\nThrough humor\, vulnerability\, and transformative char
acter work\, Ari'el explores Jewish identity\, mental health\, and belong
ing as an Arab-Jewish artist navigating multiple worlds.\n\nWritten and p
erformed by Stachel\, this new work explores his experiences with OCD\, a
ssimilation\, and the complicated evolution of his Arab-Jewish identity.
As a Middle Eastern Jewish teenager in America in the aftermath of 9/11\,
Ari'el quickly learned that safety often meant silence. He began hiding
his father\, denying parts of his heritage\, and reshaping himself to fit
into a culture that increasingly viewed his identity with suspicion. Wha
t began as self-protection became performance until it all broke.\n\nThe
piece also reflects on the aftermath of October 7th\, confronting the pai
nful complexity of holding both Arab and Jewish identity in a world incre
asingly demanding division. The result is a deeply personal\, politically
urgent\, and darkly funny exploration of identity\, resilience\, and wha
t it means to reclaim wholeness-onstage and off.

DESCRIPTION:Aaron Pang walks with a cane\, and everyone asks "what happene
d?" He's tired of answering and so he wrote a solo show to tell it in one
go. One accident\, two stories: one you've heard a thousand times\, one
you've never heard before.\n\nFalling is an uncomfortably sexy and hilari
ously vulnerable stumble through Aaron's misadventures searching for love
\, lust\, and life after disability. Pang is a writer and comedian from O
akland\, California whose work blends sincerity and sharp humor to challe
nge familiar narratives about disabled bodies and relationships.

sandstorm she stumbles upon a remnant of human technology\, a deep well d

DESCRIPTION:Gathering unfolds in a fictional village under siege\, where a
woman struggles to reconcile fragmented memories of home through movemen
t\, ritual\, and music. In this evocative work\, hundreds of oranges spil
l across the stage-passed hand to hand\, stacked on bodies\, scattered an
d crushed underfoot-as dancers reshape the space in an ever-shifting medi
tation on loss\, survival\, and human connection. Conceived and directed
by Samar Haddad King\, Gathering blends dance\, song\, puppetry\, and pla
y with music from Max Richter's Vivaldi alongside King's original composi
tions. Both intimate and expansive\, Gathering is a work of aching beauty
that lingers long after the scent of citrus fills the air. \n\nFounded b
y King and operated out of the United States\, Palestine\, and France\, Y
aa Samar! Dance Theatre creates multidisciplinary and cross-cultural perf
ormances that unite diverse groups through creative encounters. Returning
to Duke after Last Ward in 2024\, the company has developed more than 30
original works presented across the United States and internationally.
