DESCRIPTION:This policy event\, hosted by the Duke Center for Internationa
l Development and the Evidence in Governance and Politics (EGAP)\, is des
igned to foster structured\, cross-regional reflection on the future of d
evelopment research and practice.\n\nEGAP-supported research has generate
d deep insights into governance and development\, but much of this work h
as been disproportionately concentrated in Africa. At the same time\, reg
ions around the world face distinct and evolving challenges-from basic se
rvice delivery and literacy to digital governance\, from heavy aid depend
ence to increasingly domestic sources of development finance and philanth
ropy. Without intentional\, comparative dialogue\, we risk talking past o
ne another or reinventing solutions that may not travel well across conte
xts.\n\nThe goal of these panel discussions is to address this gap direct
ly. Collectively\, we aim to:\n•Map the major development challenges like
ly to shape the next decade\, region by region\;\n•Take stock of what EGA
P-style interventions have taught us\, and critically assess which lesson
s travel across contexts and which do not\;\n•Reflect on the changing dev
elopment landscape\, particularly with respect to financing\, sustainabil
ity\, and the role of external actors.\n\nPanel 1: Major Challenges in De
velopment (Next Decade)\nPanel 2: Lessons from EGAP Interventions\nPanel
3: Navigating the New Development Landscape
