 e Gomes Guest Preacher for this Sunday will be the Rev. Dr. Willie James 
 Jennings\, associate professor of systematic theology and Africana studie
 s at Yale University Divinity School. A graduate of Duke University\, Dr.
  Jennings is a systematic theologian teaches in the areas of theology\, b
 lack church and Africana studies\, as well as post-colonial and race theo
 ry. The author of a number of books\, he wrote The Christian Imagination:
  Theology and the Origins of Race\, which has become a standard text read
  in colleges\, seminaries\, and universities. He is the recipient of the 
 2015 Grawemeyer Award in Religion for his groundbreaking work on race and
  Christianity. His recently authored commentary on the Book of Acts won t
 he Reference Book of the Year Award from The Academy of Parish Clergy. He
  is also the author of After Whiteness: An Education in Belonging\, which
  won the 2020 book of the year award from Publisher's Weekly and was sele
 cted as a finalist for the 2021 American Academy of Religion Book of the 
 Year in the Constructive-Reflective Studies category. In addition to bein
 g a frequent lecturer at colleges\, universities\, and seminaries\, Dr. J

 day's Guest Preacher will be the Reverend Dr. M. Keith Daniel. Rev. Dr. D
 aniel served in Executive Director roles for StepUp NC and DurhamCares\, 
 Inc.  He is the Board Chair for The School for Conversion and serves on t
 he boards of Justice Matters\, Duke Health Chaplain Services and Educatio
 n\, and Duke University Chapel. Dr. Daniel has over 3 decades of manageme
 nt and servant-leadership in the public sector\, higher education adminis
 tration including graduate (MBA and Divinity) and undergraduate student a
 ffairs\, human resources\, and religious life. He served as the Director 
 of the PathWays Program and Director of Community and Campus Engagement a
 t Duke Chapel. \n\nRev. Dr. Daniel is an ordained clergy member in the Am
 erican Baptist Church tradition. He is an Instructor/Special Projects at 
 Duke Divinity School leading spiritual formation and assistant teaching i
 n the Black Church Studies curriculum on Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. and
  Howard Thurman.\nHe earned a B.A. in Comparative Area Studies\, Duke Uni
 versity\; the Master of Higher Education\, North Carolina State Universit
 y\; Master of Divinity and Doctor of Divinity\, Duke University. He and w
 ife Lorna are natives of Washington\, DC and are the proud parents of Mad
 ison Daniel II\, Duke Divinity (M.Div.)/Sanford School (MPP)\, 2024 and L
 oren Daniel\, Meredith College (IOS) 2024.\n\nParking is available in the

 day's guest preacher\, Rev. Scott E. Hoezee\, is an ordained pastor in th
 e Christian Reformed Church in North America and in the spring of 2005 be
 came the Calvin Theological Seminary's first Director of the Center for E
 xcellence in Preaching. He has also been a member of the Pastor-Theologia
 n Program sponsored by the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton\, N
 ew Jersey\, where he was pastor-in-residence in the fall of 2000. From 20
 01-2011 Scott served on the editorial board of Perspectives: A Journal of
  Reformed Thought and was co-editor of that journal from 2005-2011.  He b
 logs regularly for The Reformed Journal and along with Darrell Delaney is
  the co-host of the Groundwork radio and podcast program from ReFrame Min
 istries of the Christian Reformed Church in North America.\n\nRev. Hoezee
  is married to Rosemary Apol and they have two children. He enjoys birdwa
 tching\, snorkeling\, and exploring the beauties and wonders of God's gre
 at creation.\n\nRev. Hoezee is the author of several books including The 
 Riddle of Grace (1996)\, Flourishing in the Land (1996)\, Remember Creati
