Visiting Artist Brenda Goldstein
Drop by the Ruby on Friday at noon for a casual art talk and free lunch to learn about the behind-the-scenes aspect of the creative process, careers in the arts, and more.
Canadian artist and Durham resident Brenda Goldstein is in residence at the Ruby October 1-Oct 25, 2019. She will be working on a large-scale piece from her series Cicatrice (scar). These works are sewn paintings constructed from scraps of seed bags, tarp, plaster bandages, fabric, parchment and whatever other abandoned materials she comes across.
Goldstein's Ruby Friday talk will include the artists and thinkers that inspire her present work, and will include discussion of her transition from the moving image and installation to painting. Attendees will be invited to visit her studio following the talk.
