Botanizing at Occoneechee Mountain

The highest point in Orange County, this North Carolina State Natural Area is a gem, with a diversity of natural plant and animal communities not found anywhere else in the Triangle region. Join Dr. Paul Manos, the Jack H. Neely Professor of Biology at Duke University, and Dr. Alec Motten, Duke University assistant professor emeritus, on this 2- to 3-mile hike of moderate difficulty across the mountain. Driving directions will be sent for participants to meet at the site. Please wear comfortable clothes and good walking shoes. Bring a lunch and beverage to enjoy.
