Book Event for "Putting Wealth to Work" by Joel Fleishman

Book Event for Joel Fleishman; interviewed by Judith Rodin
Wednesday, February 14, 2018
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Joel Fleishman and Judith Rodin

Former president of the Rockefeller Foundation, Judith Rodin, will interview Duke public policy professor Joel Fleishman on the topic of contemporary philanthropy as explored in his new book "Putting Wealth to Work: Philanthropy for Today or Investing for Tomorrow?"

The lecture and reception will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Sanford School's Fleishman Commons. It is free and open to the public. Due to a 7 p.m. basketball game, visitor parking is limited to the Bryan Center Parking Deck for a fee ($2/hour). Books will available during the reception.

The event will provide an opportunity to explore the challenges to the idea of "giving while living," a contemporary philanthropy model that risks not serving the long-term complex problems that established institutions have the capacity to handle, but whose results may not be immediate.

Joel Fleishman, director of the Heyman Center on Ethics, Public Policy and the Professions and professor of law and public policy, and is an expert in philanthropy and not-for-profit organizations.

Judith Rodin, a global thought-leader and innovator, was the first woman named to lead the University of Pennsylvania and the first woman to serve as the Rockefeller Foundation's president.

The event is sponsored by the Sanford School of Public Policy.
