At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

* Describe the impact of extraneous and intrinsic cognitive loads on working memory, and how graphic design can help reduce cognitive overload in multimedia presentations

* Use visually salient pre-attentive features to direct learners' attention to relevant multimedia content

* Specify exact colors (using either RGB or HSL color models) to create color palettes accessible for individuals with color vision deficiency

* Use Gestalt principles and grids to optimize images and text organization on slides
