Virtual CAPS Workshop- Waking to Whiteness
During this time of increased awareness of the far-reaching prevalence and impact of systemic racism, white folks can be left wondering what we can do to challenge white supremacy and to contribute to a more just and humane world for everyone. In this weekly group, white participants will work together to reflect upon different characteristics of White Supremacy Culture (Okun & Jones, 2001) and how they manifest in our lived experiences. This group is a community to support and challenge one another to name unquestioned norms and standards of white supremacy, recognize their impact, and identify ways that we can shift our reactions to more fully participate in building an anti-racist culture. It is through collective work that we have the opportunity to heal and liberate ourselves from white supremacy.
