"I started painting during residency as a way to recharge and disconnect after long and sometimes difficult work weeks. I think that is why I am drawn to painting quiet and moody landscapes, ones that you can mentally escape to and get lost in.
Most of the paintings in this exhibit were painted in the last year, a time of many personal and professional transitions: I became a mother, finished residency, and started a new job as a hospitalist.
While these were joyful and eagerly anticipated changes, I can't deny that they came with quite the learning curve! When I feel particularly stressed, uncertain, or frazzled, I continue to be grateful for the times of quiet escape when I can paint just for myself."
