Sarah Ann Wells

Sarah Ann Wells, Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, will give a workshop discussing her first book, "Media Laboratories: Late Modernist Authorship in South America" (Northwestern University Press, 2017) and strategies for conceptualizing and writing successful dissertation and book projects through comparative and interdisciplinary methods. This workshop is aimed specially at graduate students. Navigating elegantly between Spanish and Portuguese-language literary traditions as well as between the fields of literary studies and media history and theory, Wells' book offers a novel understanding of literary authorship in South America during the 1930s and 40s. RSVP is required in advance and students will be provided with an excerpt of Wells's book that will be used in the discussion. For RSVP and questions contact Gustavo Furtado at gpf@duke.edu Lunch will be provided.
