Friday, October 23, 2020
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This hands-on workshop introduces students, teachers, and researchers to ways of using poetry to develop new questions, discover unexpected findings, and invigorate their analysis of practically anything.

The presenters have applied poetic inquiry techniques to materials as diverse as 17th-century portraits and overgrown cemeteries.

Collie Fulford is associate professor of English at North Carolina Central University. She uses poetic inquiry in faculty-student collaborative research about the lives of adult HBCU students.

Nan Mullenneaux is a professor of International Writing at Duke University. She uses various forms of creative inquiry in the classroom and in her research on 19th-century women in the arts.

Adam Rosenblatt is an associate professor of the practice in International Comparative Studies at Duke University. He is using poetic inquiry in his book about grassroots efforts to preserve historic African American burial grounds, psychiatric hospital cemeteries, and other places of the marginalized dead.
