Dr. Ruby is an Associate Professor of Biology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She received a BA in Psychology from Miami University of Ohio, a PhD in Physiology from Kent State University with advisor Dr. J. David Glass, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship studying the Neurobiology of Addiction at Mayo Clinic with mentor Dr. Doo-Sup Choi. Dr. Ruby has 15 years of research experience investigating alcohol's effects on circadian (daily) rhythms. Her lab is currently focused on characterizing the chronobiological impacts of adolescent exposure to alcohol and other addictive substances, such as caffeine, nicotine, and opioids in rodent models, and exploring evolutionary aspects of addiction-related behavior and circadian timing in invertebrates.
