You Are What You Watch: Fostering Empathy in Students through Documentary
Cost: Free
In this session, the facilitator and participants will delve deeper into the ways in which documentary can be used as a tool to foster student empathy. The facilitator and supporting educators will share their experiences in using documentary - with its predominant focus on individuals and specific historical moments rather than themes or broad strokes - to offer students a different perspective than they might find in textbooks, novels, internet resources, or other resources.
Participating teachers will then have a chance to practice creating empathy-provoking curriculum around documentary.
A Zoom link will be shared the morning of the event.
