CEE Seminar: Gas Fermentation to Produce Methane, Extractable Chemicals, or Protein
Lars Angenent is a Humboldt Professor at the University of Tübingen in Germany and works in the area of Environmental Biotechnology. This is also the name of his research group (www.envbiotech.de). He previously was a full professor at Cornell University in the USA. Currently, his research group is divided into five specialty areas: 1) chain elongation to recover carbon; 2) syngas fermentation to recover carbon; 3) power-to-gas with pure cultures of thermophilic methanogenic archaea; 4) power-to-protein; and 5) extracellular electron transfer in natural systems. These areas have all in common that they are anaerobic in nature and that relatively reduced (electron-rich) electron donors are introduced into the system without the presence of relatively oxidized electron acceptors such as oxygen, sulfate, or nitrate....
