Just Space Week: Conversations on Spatial Justice within the Duke and Durham Communities

Just Space Week 2021 poster
Monday, March 15, 2021
All Day

Conversations about space are never just about space.

Duke's Just Space Initiative first organized in 2017 within Student Affairs because we believe that space is a matter of justice, equity, history, creativity, and representation. We want to enter into a transformative conversation about where we are located, who has been here before, and what this means for our lives and the life of our Duke community.

Join us to continue this conversation at the 2021 Just Space Week, held virtually on March 15th - 19th. Registration for this free programming is now open! Throughout the week a fascinating group of experts will present on a diverse range of topics. Show up and learn about the Duke origins in the Cherokee Industrial School, explore "Black Art as Resistance," and grapple with the question "Can Duke's Next Residential Living and Learning Model Also Be Antiracist?"

You also are invited to enter into a Circles process, two virtual spaces mediated by trained facilitators, in order to deepen your experience of the week.

Find the full agenda, along with speaker information on our website.
