Saturday, April 17, 2021
10:00 am - 11:00 am

In this online presentation by Jan Little, director of education and public programs at Duke Gardens, we will discuss a group of landscape plants that add beauty, texture, color and flowers to your garden. The program begins with a general horticulture discussion and then introduces a selection of trees, shrubs and perennials, noting their native region, culture, care, design attributes and history with people. Topics for this week include the spring-flowering eastern columbine (Aquilegia canadensis), jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum), eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis), flowering dogwood (Cornus florida), Dutchman's breeches (Dicentra cucullaria), trout lily (Erythronium americanum), common hepatica (Hepatica nobilis), Virginia bluebells (Mertensia virginica), bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis), and woodland celandine-poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum.)
