ENVIRONMENT MATTERS: BRAIN-IMMUNE INTERACTIONS IN DEVELOPMENT AND BEYOND
The goal of Dr. Bilbo's research is to understand the important role of the immune system during brain development, and ways in which immune activation during early brain development can affect later-life outcomes of neural function, immune function, mood and cognition. She also is interested in modeling current social and environmental issues that impact the developing brain, and how these factors may be mitigated via careful scholarship, education, and engagement with trainees, collaborators, and members of society.
