'13th' Documentary Screening

Sponsored by the School Of Nursing Office of Diversity and Inclusion

The title of Ava DuVernay's extraordinary and galvanizing documentary refers to the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. The horrors of mass criminalization and the sprawling American prison industry is laid out by DuVernay with bracing lucidity. In this thought-provoking
documentary, scholars, activists and politicians analyze the criminalization of African Americans and
the U.S. prison boom.
