Contested Lands reflects artist Peter Goin's photographic work bearing witness within Nuclear Landscapes and along the U.S.-Mexico border, from the project Tracing the Line. Presenting newly restored images, this presentation focuses on bearing witness to contested lands, to the perilous sublime, and to these places that define us as a culture.
The large-format photographs from the Nevada Test Site, the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, the Trinity Site in New Mexico, and at the Marshall Islands' Bikini and Enewetak atolls precede an abbreviated black and white narrative of the entire length of La Frontera. These landscapes have become icons in mythic story-telling and political theater.
