COVID+DS

There has been an explosion of scientific literature on COVID-19 in the past several months with thousands of articles already available. In order to try to make sense of this quickly evolving literature, people have turned to data science and natural language processing tools to process the vast literature and find the most relevant articles. In this session, we will go through the basics of natural language processing, introduce the algorithmic foundation of these tools, and discuss how the same toolkit could be applied in diverse scenarios.

No prior knowledge of natural language processing is required, but a mild background on the basics of data analysis and neural networks will be assumed.

This session is part of the Duke+Data Science (+DS) program virtual series on COVID-19 + Data Science. Please join us for a 8-week series on data science methods with direct applications to the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn from Duke experts about the state-of-the-art in these 1-hour virtual sessions.
