DQC Seminar Series: Quantum channel capacities

Abstract: In 1948, Shannon developed information theory and proved that classical communication channels had a well-defined capacity that limited the rate at which you could send information over them. It turns out that quantum communication channels do not have one capacity, but several capacities. We explain several of the major capacities of quantum channels, give formulas for them, and explain how they arise.
