Tradición: discussing the faith, history, and ritual of Día de los Muertos

Delve into the diverse and varying traditions of Día de los Muertos with this panel conversation in which campus and community members explore their own memories and holiday traditions. Seated in front of the public Ofrenda, on display in Duke Chapel from October 10 through November 7, the panelists will discuss the work and holiday before engaging in an audience Q&A. This conversation will be accessible to both English and Spanish speakers.
Panelists include Pepe Caudillo, an artist with the Inter-Latin American Artist Collective (ILAAC); Amber Santibaez, a visual arts teacher at Durham School of the Arts and key organizer of the school's Fall Arts Festival focused on Día de los Muertos; Fr. Juan José Hernandez from the Duke Catholic Center; and Sandra Sotelo-Miller, a Lecturing Fellow in the Thompson Writing Program.
