Building Blocks for MCP Servers

In this hands-on, beginner-friendly 2-hour workshop, you'll build and deploy your first Model Context Protocol (MCP)server-the open-source standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to external data sources and tools across different platforms. Through a series of guided exercises, you'll create a custom MCP server from scratch, learn the core concepts of resources, tools, and prompts, and integrate your server with a range of AI clients-including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and a deployed MyGPTBuilder instance. Whether you want to give AI applications live data access, build cross-platform tooling, or explore the emerging ecosystem of AI interoperability, you'll leave with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to start building with MCP. Familiarity with basic Python (or any object-oriented language) is encouraged before attending.
