AI Assisted Programming for STEM

This class introduces scientists and engineers to using AI tools to support quantitative programming tasks in Python. We'll focus on how AI can help with common STEM workflows such as data extraction and cleaning, basic modeling with tools like scikit-learn, interpreting results, and debugging code.

A major emphasis of the session is safe and responsible use. We'll discuss what AI is (and is not), why its outputs are nondeterministic, how it differs from primary sources like documentation and textbooks, and when you should verify or reject AI-generated suggestions. The class is designed for undergraduates, graduate students, or professionals with some programming experience who want to learn how to use AI to work more efficiently
