For decades, Fran Lebowitz has occupied a singular place in American cultural life. Renowned for her razor-sharp wit, unsparing observations, and deeply original perspective, she has earned a devoted following as one of the country's most distinctive commentators on contemporary society. Whether reflecting on culture, cities, technology, politics, or the absurdities of modern life, her commentary remains as incisive as it is entertaining.

A celebrated observer of human behavior and contemporary culture, Lebowitz exemplifies the spirit of rigorous inquiry and creative engagement that lies at the heart of the arts and humanities. Her appearance offers Duke students, faculty, staff, and community members an opportunity to engage with a writer and public thinker whose work continues to provoke laughter, reflection, and conversation.
