Alina Cherkasova is a classical trained dramatic soprano from Ukraine. Alina and her military husband have been living in Aberdeen, NC since March 2020, where she continues charitable performances to support the US military, veterans, and their military spouses. Since March 2022, Alina has already performed in five fundraiser concerts for Ukraine, providing medical and humanitarian help to Ukrainians.

Dr. Taras Filenko is a noted scholar and performer of Ukrainian music. Since the war of Russian aggression against Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, he has volunteered his talent for numerous lectures and concerts to raise funds for humanitarian relief for the Ukrainian people. Focusing on the performance of Ukrainian composers, and when possible providing talks on the history of Ukrainian musical culture, these events have been highly praised, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for Ukrainian charities.

Presented by Duke Music, Divinity School, Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies, Duke CSEEES, UNC CSEEES, and the Ukrainian Association of North Carolina.
