Peace Lab Innovation Showcase

Peace Lab Innovation Showcase. Thursday, Nov. 30, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Sanford Lobby. Duke Center for International Development. Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center.
Thursday, November 30, 2023
11:30 am - 5:30 pm

Duke master's students including Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Fellows and Master of International Development Policy (MIDP) Fellows, as well as students pursuing DCID's International Development Policy (IDP) Certificate will showcase their innovations developed over the course of this semester's Introduction to Peace and Conflict Resolution taught by Prof. Maureen Moriarty. This class focused on the evidenced- based Eight Pillars of Peace as the mutually reinforcing requirements for freedom from violent conflict and structural peace.

A special feature of this course included The Peace Innovation Lab. Students had the opportunity and space throughout the course to incubate an innovative program, idea, or practice inspired and informed by their lived personal and professional experiences to address the vexing problems of conflict, violence, and injustice. These innovations represent projects that sought to move beyond sectoral silos and time constraints inherent in traditional development, peacebuilding, and humanitarian programs (the Triple Nexus).

We invite you to join our students as they share their ideas as well as their potential plans to implement these projects moving forward. Coffee, tea and cookies will be available.
