Fossil Free Research Day of Action
Crystal Cavalier-Keck is a citizen of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation who has served as a leader in the movement against the Mountain Valley Pipeline expansion. She advocates for missing and murdered Indigenous women and environmental justice through 7 Directions of Service, a grassroots activism organization based in rural NC she founded with her husband. She will be giving a public lecture Friday, October 27th at 12:00 PM in Social Sciences 136. Vegan soul food from Pure Soul will be provided.
At 1:00 PM, we will be hosting a protest outside WU on Penn Pavilion to put pressure on Duke to divest from fossil fuels and ban fossil fuel funding from research. This will be coordinated with the release of our report on fossil-fuel-associated funding Duke has received, as well as part of a wider day of action taking place across multiple universities coordinated by Campus Climate Network.
