Design Basics: Building Functionality

Once your site analysis is complete, you can begin thinking about function. What size is needed for the patio/deck, the perennial bed, the vegetable bed, etc.? What elements belong together, and which should be separated? This is the next of the design decisions "nesting dolls" and asks you to delay thinking about specific forms so you can focus on the connections or separations between various functions. In this online presentation, Jan Little, director of education and public programs at Duke Gardens, will show you how.
