Continuing the Conversation: Building a Universal System for Families with Young Children in North Carolina

During this statewide gathering, attendees will continue the national conversation from April 12 (visit: The Next Step in Early Childhood Policy: Creating a Universal System of Care for Families with Young Children) about how to implement the types of services and supports that young children and families need as part of a universal system of care. We encourage everyone to register for the online national conference in order to prepare for the state discussion.

Sessions on April 13 include:

  • Keynote address by Representative Ashton Clemmons, Co-chair of the North Carolina General Assembly Early Childhood Caucus

  • N.C. Government Structure to Support Systems that Meet the Needs of Young Children and Families

  • Ready for School Ready for Life: Lessons from Guilford County on Building a Connected System of Care with a Universal Approach

  • Closing remarks by Susan Gale Perry, Chief Deputy Secretary for Opportunity and Well-Being, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services

Sponsored by Duke's Sanford School of Public Policy, the Center for Child and Family Policy, ABC Thrive, and The Hunt Institute, this event will provide meaningful engagement with researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in North Carolina.

This event is part of Duke University's celebration of 50 years of public policy education and scholarship.
