Flower Portraits

Practice drawing from life in the Gardens with Julia Einstein, artist in residence at Raleigh City Farm, as you stand at eye level with a plant to capture its essence on paper. You'll be guided to make botanical sketches and natural gesture drawings in miniature and on a large scale using a variety of drawing tools to create an artful set of field studies to bring home. Julia creates a welcoming, inclusive environment for artists of all skill levels. All materials are included in the cost. Meet in the classroom inside the Doris Duke Center.
This will be a small group program that takes place partially seated indoors and partially outdoors traveling on a combination of paved and unpaved paths with some uneven surfaces and moderate inclines.
Fee: $32; 20% discount for Duke Gardens members with discount code. Registration is at https://rsvp.duke.edu/vrbobR . Parking fees apply ($2/hr.).
