Dan Senor: October 7th, Six Months Later: What Have We Learned, Where Are We Heading?

Join Jewish Life at Duke, the Program in American Grand Strategy, the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Department, the Duke University Middle East Studies Center and the Jewish Business Association in welcoming Dan Senor for a discussion with Duke Professor Frank Bruni on Monday, April 15 at the Washington Duke Inn, from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. A reception and signing of his most recent book, "The Genius of Israel: The Surprising Resilience of a Divided Nation in a Turbulent World" immediately follows the event.

Now a Partner and Chief Public Affairs Officer at Elliott Investment Management, Dan Senor has had a robust political career. Senor served as a senior advisor to former Speaker Paul Ryan's campaign for vice president and foreign policy advisor to Senator Mitt Romney's presidential campaigns. A former Defense Department official, Senor was based in Iraq and at U.S. Central Command in Qatar in 2003 and 2004 as chief spokesperson for the U.S.-led coalition. He has written for The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA TODAY, and The Washington Post, and appears frequently on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS," CNBC's "Squawk Box," and "CBS Mornings".

Additionally, Dan Senor is co-author of The New York Times bestseller "The Genius of Israel: The Surprising Resilience of a Divided Nation in a Turbulent World", as well as The New York Times bestseller "Start-Up Nation: The Story of Israel's Economic Miracle", which has been translated into more than 30 languages. He is also the host of the "Call Me Back" podcast.

Senor was educated at the University of Western Ontario, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Harvard Business School. He now lives in New York City with his wife and two sons.

Professor Frank Bruni will be in conversation with Dan Senor for the evening. Bruni has been a Duke faculty member since 2021. Before arriving at Duke, Bruni worked for the New York Times for 25 years where he was a metro reporter, White House correspondent, Rome bureau chief, chief restaurant critic, and Op-Ed columnist. Bruni is a three-time New York Times bestselling author for his books "Where You Go Is Not Who You'll Be", "Born Round", and "Ambling into History". At Duke, Bruni is a professor of the practice of Journalism and Public Policy, and continues to write for the Times.
