MaryAnn Black Distinguished Health Equity Symposium 2024

Duke Cancer Institute's Community Outreach, Engagement, and Equity (COEE) welcomes you to participate in the annual MaryAnn Black Distinguished Health Equity Symposium in honor of the late NC State Representative MaryAnn Black. The symposium will take place on February 9th, 2024 from 3pm to 6:30pm at the Durham Convention Center. The keynote speaker will be Mary T. Bassett, MD, MPH. Dr. Bassett is director of the Francois Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) Center for Health and Human Rights and FXB Professor of the Practice of Health and Human Rights in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. From December 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022, Dr. Bassett served as New York State's Health Commissioner. With more than 30 years of experience devoted to promoting health equity and social justice, both in the United States and abroad, Dr. Bassett's career has spanned academia, government, and not-for-profit work.
We will also be hosting poster sessions and invite abstract submissions from students/trainees, community organizations, researchers, and healthcare professionals that highlight work to advance health equity in our community.
Abstract submissions open on October 16, 2023, and will close on November 27, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (ET). We encourage everyone to participate and share the work you're doing to better the health of all of our communities!
