Early Music luminary and flutist Barthold Kuijken leads a public masterclass for flutists and chamber ensembles, offering rare insight into historically informed performance. The session culminates in a short performance, showcasing Kuijken's artistry and lifelong engagement with early instruments and sources. Barthold Kuijken is one of the world's leading figures in Early Music and historically informed performance. A virtuoso traverso and recorder player, he has shaped modern understanding of historical flute practice through his performances, teaching, research, and recordings. He has collaborated with many of the most important early music artists and ensembles of the last half-century and served for decades as Professor of Baroque Flute at the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and The Hague. Kuijken is the author of The Notation Is Not the Music and the recipient of numerous honors, including the NFA Lifetime Achievement Award. He continues to perform and teach internationally.
