The Knut Schmidt-Nielsen Lecture, sponsored by the Bio Majors Union, is given this year by Professor of Biology Kathleen K. Smith. Knut Schmidt-Nielsen was Professor of Zoology at Duke from 1952 until 1985, and the leading comparative physiologist of the second half of the twentieth century.
