Much of what we write, create, and document now exists exclusively on the web, and web archiving - the process of collecting, preserving, and providing access to web materials - is what enables individuals and organizations to build and maintain collections of these at-risk resources. In her talk, Samantha Abrams will discuss the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation's collaborative approach to archiving the web, and answer questions about how researchers, scholars, and practitioners across multiple disciplines might engage with and use these curated collections.

Samantha Abrams is the Web Resources Collection Librarian for the Ivy Plus libraries Confederation, a partnership between thirteen leading academic research libraries that collectively provide access to a rich and unique record of human thought and creativity through resource sharing and collaboration. On behalf of the Confederation, Samantha collaborates with subject experts and librarians to build curated collections of web material and preserve these ephemeral resources for researchers and scholars at participating Libraries and beyond. In addition to her work at the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation, Samantha is an associate lecturer at the iSchool at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has additional experience working in public libraries and publishing and holds a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Madison-Wisconsin.
