Service Opportunities in Leadership and Political Engagement Project information session

Come learn about Service Opportunities in Leadership (SOL) and the Political Engagement Project, two of HLP's signature programs.

SOL is a nationally recognized, year long leadership development program for first-years, sophomores, and juniors, integrating community service, field research, and critical reflection within an academic framework. The SOL experience consists of three parts: a spring preparation course, a funded summer community-based research project, and a fall capstone seminar.

Every year, SOLsters tackle complex social issues in communities around the world, from designing a health education campaign targeting schistosomiasis in Shirati, Tanzania to helping politicians in Texas figure out how to engage Latinx constituents. Through SOL, students explore various efforts for social change, refine their research skills, and build dynamic relationships with their communities and peers.

The Political Engagement Project (PEP) is a new initiative in partnership with the Center for Political Leadership, Innovation, and Service (POLIS). Open to Public Policy juniors, students will take an introductory course on political engagement, receive funding for their summer internships, have access to an impact fund for their senior year, and participate in tailored events and mentorship.
