Workshop: Film Lighting Fixtures and Gripping

Students are taught the deployment and manipulation of C stands, baby stands, combo stands, apple boxes, sandbags, rags, flags, bounce, black foil, gels, scrims, pacmen, C47's, grip clips, Cardellinis, lollipops, and the whole menagerie of lighting instruments. Students learn to safely route power, properly wrap cables, safely secure stands and their loads against gravity, uneven ground, and wind. At the end of this session, students should be able to work with the heavy equipment of film lighting without injuring themselves, damaging locations or equipment, tripping breakers, or setting off sprinkler systems.
