Spotlight on Native Sedges

Gray's sedge in flower
Thursday, March 23, 2023
3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Shannon Currey

In this in-person class, Shannon Currey, education & outreach at Izel Native Plants, will help you let go of Liriope by embracing the wealth of Southeastern native Carex. These herbaceous perennials shine in mixed plantings and as alternatives to mulch and traditional lawn, especially in shady conditions. You'll come away knowing which species are well-adapted to our conditions, support wildlife and help build ecologically sounds landscapes so you can make sound choices for your garden. Meet in the classroom inside the Doris Duke Center.

Fee: $21; free to Gardens members and supporters with seasonal members-free code. Registration is at https://rsvp.duke.edu/g1nKqO.
